Ventures
For over three decades, we've also founded companies of our own — in music, publishing, sustainability, and culture. That entrepreneurial experience shapes everything we do.
We don't just advise; we've built.
Straddling analog and digital eras, The Light Years Studio continues to craft engagements that inspire community and connect people with heart and integrity.

Tasty Shows
Founded in the fertile underground of 1990s Seattle — an era when the city was affordable and radiating with experimental energy. Queer and straight scenes collided, drag queens and DJs shared stages, and dance floors became living art. Tasty Shows produced over a thousand concerts and happenings across more than a decade — spanning every genre imaginable.
The Art of Parties, a forthcoming book, documents the poster and flyer art from this era — a visual archive of the late '80s through the early aughts.

Sweet Mother Recordings
Founded in 1993, Sweet Mother Records emerged from Seattle's abstract hip-hop and downtempo scene. The label has released compilations and original recordings distributed by SUB POP, BEAMS Records, and others — bringing Pacific Northwest electronic and experimental music to audiences in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan.
Artists include Dragonfly, Strange Voices, T.S.R., Plastiq Phantom, The Verbrilli Sound, Tripoli, High Fidelity, 3xInfinity, and Mystic.
The label also produces custom playlists and compilations for hospitality and retail clients including Ace Hotel, The Standard Hotels, Raleigh Hotel, Sunset Beach, Armani, Armani Casa, A/X, Emporio Armani, Banana Republic, Gap, Nordstrom, and Hear Music for Starbucks — including a compilation to raise funds and awareness for the Groundworks concert series in support of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

The Barnacle
Launched in 2013. Designed and built a bespoke cocktail bar in the heart of Orcas Island, Jared’s home base, because every little town needs a good spot to bring people together.

Sorrento Hotel / Magnetic
Formed in 2014 with the mission to take on upgrading Seattle’s oldest hotel. The scope, intended to celebrate and energize this historic gem, included a 76-room refresh, a lobby renovation, installation of a new garden dining in the courtyard and a full rebrand of the hotel and its food and beverage service.

ARO.SPACE
The Art & Revolution Organization's 800-person venue in Seattle, open from 1997 to 2001. Part nightclub, part gallery, part laboratory — ARO.space hosted hundreds of concerts, legendary club nights serving Seattle's diverse scenes, and gallery openings for artists including KAWS, Shepard Fairey, Erik Brunetti, PERKS, Kinsey, and Justin Hampton.
The space also held ID Magazine's Family installation, photographs from Details Magazine, long-exposure light paintings by Dean Chamberlain, talks on the origins of psychedelic medicine with Terence McKenna, and the Warlord of Drag series — whose winners were flown to Sydney's Gay Pride to represent.
Four years of experiments in art, music, and media. Mythical for a reason.

Standard Hotels / Standard Spa Hotel - Miami
A passion project for Jared and his twin brother. They developed, designed, and programmed an in-room spa concept that was sold to André Balazs Hotels, leading to the creation of the first hammam and adult hydrotherapy playground in the USA — still in business today as The Standard Spa Hotel, Miami.
The project was the first large-scale application of Integral Theory into a real-world hospitality concept, integrating mind, body, and spirit into the planning and programming. It became the home of the first Center for Integral Living, which curated experiences at the crossroads of art, music, health and wellness, mindfulness, and personal development.
Winner of the Condé Nast Traveler "Best Spa in the Americas" readers' poll, 2009.
Opened 2005.
